WHY GOD SHUT THE WOMB OF HANNAH

WHY GOD SHUT THE WOMB OF HANNAH

Text:1Sam 1:1-28

It Was God Who Shut Her Womb – vs 5

We must understand that it was God Himself who intentionally SHUT the womb of Hannah; not ancestral demons, not inherited curses, not uterus incapability or low sperm count. It was God by Himself.

Will God do a thing without a purpose? No! Prov 19:21
God has a reason for everything He does, yet, He is not wicked. Many times, we don’t understand where God is going from where we stand. In the case of Hannah, God had a plan and reason to delay her child bearing (barrenness).

Why Did God Shut Her Womb? –1Sam 2:3-5
Like in the case of Mary the mother of Jesus, God had a plan to bring forth a particular child through Hannah but she didn’t understand in time. Had Mary disagreed with Angel Gabriel, God would have selected another virgin to bring forth Jesus Christ.

Now, God wanted to bring forth a child that will be his own from birth and that will in time become a priest, prophet and a judge over His own people but Hannah had a different vision.
Let’s have a look at her expectation:
1. she wanted a child she could call her own
2. she wanted a child she could show off on her rival
3. she wanted a child she could use to prove some points.

How Did She Settle With God? – vs 10-15
1. she went extra-mile from the usual people’s place into the inner court (God’s presence)
2. she was literarily mad in prayer for the first time
3. she struck a deal with God on the ownership of the child – vs 11
4. she poured out her heart to God (anger, bitterness, envy, malice, etc she could have generated from her rivalry with Peninnah)
5. she believed God. As a prove, she never cried again

A Big Question!
What would have happened if Hannah had taken this step 5 years before that day (supposing she had been barren for many years)?
GOD WOULD HAVE ANSWERED HER 5 YEARS BEFORE!

Conclusion:
The kind of miracle and the time we get it from God depend on how and when we position ourselves in line with God’s plan for our lives.
